Celtics became the first team in NBA Finals history to achieve the feat originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

One of the main reasons why the Boston Celtics are so tough to beat is because they have so many players who can score 10-plus points on any given night, and that was evident on Thursday night in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals.

The Celtics earned a 107-89 win over the Dallas Mavericks at TD Garden with a total team effort offensively. Jaylen Brown led the team in scoring with 22 points. He was one of six Boston players to score in double figures, with Sam Hauser coming pretty close with eight points.

The Celtics’ depth also allowed them to set a new finals record. They became the first team in Finals history to have seven players make two or more three-point shots in a single game, according to Celtics stats guru Dick Lipe of NBC Sports Boston.

Here’s the full rundown of Celtics players who hit at least one three-pointer in Game 1:

As a team, the Celtics shot 16 of 42 (38.1 percent) from three-point range, improving their record this season (including the playoffs) to 69-8, while making more than 32 percent of their three-pointers.

The Celtics entered the Finals ranked No. 1 in both three-point shots made and attempted per game during the playoffs. This will likely be a short streak if the Celtics continue to hit more than 35 percent of their three-pointers, especially if they take 40 or more of them every game.
