CHICAGO (CBS) — On Monday, a tobacco shop in Ukrainian Village was broken into for the seventh time since June.

Surveillance footage from “Blaze Chicago” shows the suspects smashing the glass door of a store in the 1100 block of North Western Avenue with a sledgehammer.

The suspects broke into the store and then left in a black car parked at the curb, the door and another window still boarded up from another reported burglary.

The owner said the teens don’t steal stuff to sell.

“The glass, the shelves, all that stuff is way more expensive than the product or the stuff they’re stealing, personal stuff like just a small portion of the stuff,” said Palistine Al Hurah, owner of Blaze Chicago.

The owner said he was going to get metal bars to protect his business.

A mile away, in the “Saint Lucia’s Smoke Shop” neighborhood in the 2000 block of Western Avenue in Bucktown, a similar scene unfolded.

Broken glass was strewn across the floor, along with products that had fallen during a break-in on Monday morning. The cash register was open and products were taken from the store.

Police have not yet confirmed whether the two burglaries are related.
