The California Highway Patrol said a suspect in a highway shooting was arrested with the help of a witness’ dashcam video.
Around 9 a.m. on March 20, CHP received a 911 call from someone driving on Interstate 580 in Oakland. Police were told the driver of a white car pointed a gun out the car window and fired.
The caller said the white car then left I-580 at the Seminary exit and headed toward Seminary Avenue.
Investigators responded to the area and found no victims, and no other 911 calls were received in connection with the shooting.
The CHP said the dashcam led investigators to 32-year-old Dominic Jerome Taylor of San Leandro.
CHP officers arrested him on April 12 in Oakland. During the stop, officers began to suspect that Jerome may have been driving under the influence.
He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a BAC over .08, intentionally discharging a firearm through negligence, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, driving while on a suspended license and driving without an ignition lock.
