About 60,000 cups sold at Wawa stores in eight states and the District of Columbia are being recalled after the manufacturer received four reports of lacerations, according to a notice issued Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The metal straws of the cups pose a risk of consumers cutting their hands and mouth, the statement said.

The recall includes 24-ounce reusable plastic cups with Wawa printed on them that sell for about $13 each during the month of August, said Halo Branded Solutions of Sterling, Ill., which imported the Chinese-made cups.

The cups were sold in four styles: ‘The Mermaid’, which is pink and green, ‘Island Surf’, which is blue and yellow, ‘Sailor Breeze’, which is brown and orange, and ‘The Galaxy’, which is blue. and pink. They all have a brown lid.

People who purchased the cups should stop using the metal straw and contact Halo for instructions on how to receive a replacement silicone straw after returning the metal straw.

Consumers also have the option to return the cup and metal straw and receive a refund in the form of a $15 gift card. Consumers should not return the recalled items to Wawa stores, the company added.
