CHICAGO (CBS) — A cyclist was killed in a crash in the northwestern suburb of Rolling Meadows on Tuesday evening.
Just before 9:30 p.m., Rolling Meadows Police responded to a crash involving a car and a bicycle at the intersection of Rohlwing Road and Campbell Street. They found the cyclist, conscious, on the roadway with serious injuries.
The cyclist, a man, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim has not been identified.
Police believe the driver of the car left the scene and returned “a short time later.”
Police say the driver is cooperating with police.
A neighbor said Rohlwing has been a problem for years. The speed limit is 20 miles per hour, but cars typically travel much faster, he said.
Rolling Meadows Police are investigating with assistance from the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction team of the Major Case Assistance Team.
No arrests have been made.
