According to his office, Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler had his watch stolen last month while attending the horse races at Santa Anita Park.

Buehler and his wife were walking back to their seats at the Los Angeles County Horse Track when he “unknowingly suffered the theft of his watch,” Excel Sports Management said in a statement. Arcadia police confirmed their watches were stolen as they walked through the crowds at the venue on September 28. The thefts are still under investigation.

“We are grateful that Walker and McKenzie were not harmed and Walker is focused on the playoffs,” his office’s statement said.

According to the police, there was also a third attempted theft that same day. Someone tried to “hug” the victim, after which a second person began taking off his watch, police said in a statement.

“The victim felt his watch being taken off and confronted the suspects who immediately left the area,” the Arcadia Police statement read, adding that the victim subsequently reported the incident to police and security officers in the area.

Camilo Nino-Hernandez, a 24-year-old LA resident, was identified by police as one of the two suspects. According to police, he was arrested on suspicion of theft and for allegedly being in possession of a fraudulent social security card.

It is not clear who the other suspect is or if Nino-Hernandez was involved in the other thefts as no other details have been released.

Buehler will start Tuesday when the Dodgers play the San Diego Padres in Game 3 of the National League Divisional Series.

Earlier this year, San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest after a 17-year-old tried to rob him as he walked near San Francisco’s Union Square on August 31. They became confused when Pearsall defended himself, according to police, and the suspect was also left injured and had to be taken to hospital. He was arrested after he tried to run from the scene.

Pearsall was later discharged from hospital admission and the suspect was prosecuted.
