Nov. 15—LAVALE — A man was rescued just before dawn Friday when his vehicle struck an empty flatbed truck in the first block of National Highway, the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services said.
The victim, who was trapped in the wreckage, was treated at the scene and taken to UPMC Western Maryland after being alerted by numerous first responders at 5:45 a.m., with the LaVale Volunteer Fire Department leading the emergency response, Roger Bennett said. acting director of the Emergency Department.
Maryland State Police troopers and Aviation Division medics were on scene, along with the Corriganville and Bedford Road volunteer fire departments, LaVale Rescue Squad, a county ambulance that transported the victim and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office handling the crash investigation.
