An eight-year-old girl from Ohio got into her mother’s car and drove over 20 minutes over busy roads to a local Target store, where she immediately went shopping.
The drama unfolded when Bedford police received a report of a missing child, followed by another report “of a small child traveling east on Rockside Road,” local TV station WJW reported.
Dashcam video recorded from a private vehicle driving in the area shows a man calling police to report a vehicle behind him “weaving everywhere.” The weaving driver eventually comes into view on the dashcam, with the man then telling police, “He looks like a child!”
Police began a search for the child’s driver and her vehicle and were eventually able to trace the tracks of both cars, which were at least 20 minutes away from her home due to heavy traffic.
The girl was found in the store and her family was contacted to pick her up. No one was injured in the altercation, but the child reportedly told officers she had “hit a mailbox” during her journey.
