Firefighters rushed to the scene of a wildfire in the Montecito Heights area Sunday afternoon and were able to quickly bring the flames under control before they spread to surrounding vegetation.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire was first reported around 3:15 p.m. just east of Ernest E. Debs Regional Park in the 4200 block of N. Monterey Road.
According to crews, the ground-based fire was fanned by light winds. By 4:30 p.m., about eight hectares of forest had been burned. At that point, they had the fire under control.
No buildings were threatened by the fire and no injuries were reported.
SkyCal flew over the scene of the fire, where both ground crews and firefighting helicopters were busy extinguishing the flames.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.
