DICKSON CITY – Firefighters quickly extinguished flames that damaged a building in the 1300 block of Main Street Friday evening.
Crews from across the Mid Valley responded to the work structure fire at 1330 Main St. at 4:30 p.m., Fire Chief Rich Chowanec said. Arriving firefighters found smoke coming from the eaves of the building and flames visible in the windows. No one was in the building, which is used for storage by Berger Furniture and Mattress on the same block.
It took firefighters less than 20 minutes to extinguish the fire, which started in the building’s basement, Chowanec said. He said the building suffered smoke and water damage. No one was injured.
PPL and Pennsylvania Ambulance also responded.
City police closed the 1300 block of Main Street to traffic.
A state police fire marshal is investigating the fire but said it is likely electrical and not suspicious.
