When looking at potential trade partners for the Flames, the Philadelphia Flyers could catch their attention.
As the Flyers have rebuilt, several of their top players have been in the rumor mill in recent years. Centers Morgan Frost and Scott Laughton are undoubtedly two big examples, as both players generated a lot of talk leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline.
The 25-year-old Frost is in the final season of his contract and will be a restricted free agent at the end of the campaign. In five games this season, the 2017 first-round pick has three assists and a minus-5 rating. Considering he’s still quite young and has shown he can produce offensively, he could be a player that catches Calgary’s attention.
Laughton, 30, is another Flyer the Flames could keep an eye on. The experienced striker is under contract until the end of the 2025/26 season. Additionally, his ability to provide decent secondary offensive production, physicality, and solid defensive play could make him a strong addition to a Flames club looking to improve.
Given this, it would make sense for the Flames to keep a close eye on the Flyers as they look to improve under center.
