DARTMOUTH – It’s been more than a year since the Christmas Tree Shops went bankrupt and all shops are closed. But a former location that housed the iconic New England retailer is set to embrace the holiday spirit.

The old Christmas Tree Shops storefront in Dartmouth’s Faunce Corner Shopping Center is one of 10 Spirit Halloween stores in the Northeast that will transform into “Spirit Christmas” during the holiday season. Click here for a complete list of testing locations for Spirit Christmas openings.

Spirit Halloween, the seasonal retail chain known for popping up in shuttered stores to sell costumes and other spooky supplies took over a Christmas tree store location in Sagamore.

Dartmouth’s Spirit Christmas will be open for the holidays sometime in early November. Customers can book an in-store visit with Santa at SpiritChristmas.com

“Each store offers a unique shopping experience, packed with an extensive selection of holiday decorations, apparel, bounce houses, gifts and stocking stuffers,” a spokesperson for Spirit Halloween told WBZ-TV.

What happened to the Christmas Tree Shops stores?

The Christmas Tree Shops chain started on Cape Cod more than 50 years ago and became a favorite shopping destination for bargain hunters. In 2022, the owners announced plans to renamed “CTS” because some confused shoppers outside New England assumed they only sold Christmas trees.

But just a few months later, the company filed for bankruptcy all shops closed in the summer of 2023.

Since the bankruptcy, old Christmas tree store locations have been converted furniture stores And supermarketsand it was also looked into potential places for housing developments.
