Former Sabers Forward announces retirement

Former Buffalo Sabers forward Riley Sheahan has officially retired from professional hockey, as he discussed in a recent article by Bill Potrecz of BP Sports Niagara.

Sheahan, 32, had two different stints with the Sabers organization. In 53 games with the club during the 2020-21 season, he scored four goals and 13 points. He then appeared in two games for the Sabers during the 2022-2023 season, recording zero points and a minus-2 rating.

Sheahan also played in six games with the Sabres’ AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, in 2022-23, recording three assists.

In 637 NHL games over 12 seasons, split between the Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Edmonton Oilers, Seattle Kraken and Sabres, Sheahan had 74 goals, 120 assists and 194 points.
