Regional gas prices rose for a second straight week on Monday to an average of $3.43 per gallon of regular fuel, up from last week’s price of $3.42 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
The average fuel price in the Lower Atlantic region has risen by about 6 cents since last month. Gas prices in the region last year were as low as $2.88 on December 18, 2023, and as low as $3.66 on August 7, 2023, according to the EIA.
A year ago, the average gas price in the Lower Atlantic region was 0% lower, at $3.42 per gallon.

The average gas price in the United States last week was $3.65, leaving prices in the Lower Atlantic region about 6.2% lower than the national average. The average national gas price is down from last week’s average of $3.67 per gallon.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s price overview of the lower Atlantic states includes Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
