Giants QB Drew Lock leaves preseason opener with hip injury

Giants Quarterback Pull lock was knocked out in the first half of Thursday’s season opener against the Detroit Lions due to a hip injury.

Lock suffered the injury with 2:30 left in the first quarter on New York’s fourth offensive possession. The fourth-year QB was shaken up on the play and was treated by the team’s athletic trainers before leaving. He had been hit multiple times in the game and sacked once.

Tommy DeVito instead of Lock, who New York said was doubtful to return.

General manager Joe Shoe later said that Lock was doing well and could have played again in the game if necessary.

Before Lock went down with the injury, he completed four of his 10 attempts for 17 yards and an interception. The former second-round draft pick had 12 yards on a pair of scrambles. Big Blue’s offense had two three-and-outs and managed just three first downs in its four drives.

Daniel Jonesdid not play in the game, along with several other Giants starters.
