CHICAGO (CBS) — Every Thursday, CBS highlights 2 animal rescue organizations in Chicago.
Elliott Serrano of the Hinsdale Humane Society is in the CBS 2 studios this week, along with precious Buttercup.
According to Serrano, he is a three-month-old puppy from a litter that came to the shelter by transport about a month ago.
“He’s one of two left from that litter, Buttercup and sibling Milky Way,” Serrano said, adding that Buttercup is calm and affectionate.
“He liked to look out the window to see where we were going,” Serrano said. “He is very relaxed. He likes to sit on my lap. He really knows how to deal with stress.”
Serrano said the ideal home for Buttercup would be one where someone is home for more than six hours while the pup continues to train.
“Someone who can be occupied for about six to eight hours. He doesn’t spend more than that time alone while housebreaking and socializing,” Serrano said. “Then he can handle being home alone when you’re gone.”
Hinsdale Humane Society will host its second annual golf outing on July 31. The fundraiser benefits the shelter’s animals and programs.
The organization’s website has details about the event and registration information.
There is also information about volunteering, sheltering, scheduling TheraPet visits, and a shelter wish list.
For the first time, Hinsdale Humane Society is offering a summer camp beginning June 3. Children can learn about animals and nature and spend quality time with animals. Check the camp page for more information about registering.
