Jake Paul seems to be very serious about making his MMA debut for the PFL.
YouTuber-professional boxer Paul (9-1) will take on Mike Tyson (50-6) on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The event will be streamed live on Netflix.
After donning the gloves against boxing legend Tyson, Paul looks to make his MMA debut. He has his eyes on Jorge Masvidal or Nate Diaz, who meet in a 10-round, 175-pound boxing match on June 1 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
“I mean it so seriously when I say I want to fight them in MMA,” Paul said of his “B/S with Jake Paul” podcast. “Either Masvidal or Diaz, in the PFL, offer $10 million dollars for one of those guys. Once again, they will literally hide behind the fact… Masvidal: ‘You can’t even box. What the fuck are you gonna do when you come to MMA, man? I’m from Miami, Florida, bro! F*ck you, disrespect me.”
“F*cking bird brain, that’s what he’s hiding behind. Same goes for Paddy (Pimblett), Sean Strickland, all these guys are hiding behind this crazy stuff but still none of them have come to the table to talk about anything to actually make something happen for a real fight, a real spruce. , whatever it is. So the offer still stands. I want one of those guys in MMA.
Paul defeated Diaz en route to a unanimous decision victory in their 185-pound boxing match last August. Diaz is not currently under contract with the UFC, while Masvidal is, but Paul hopes he can fight in MMA next.
“Of course I have Mike, but I would just do it after that,” Paul said. “I would like a six-month camp.”
