King Charles III will receive an honorable new title as he tours Samoa following his activities in Australia in October. The frost and Queen Camille left Australia for the island country on October 23 and received a warm welcome upon their arrival at Faleolo International Airport.
Tofaeono Kititiona Tofaeonoa representative from the village of Siumu, said they plan to confer the title of Toa’iga o Tumua, or chief, on Charles on Thursday, October 24, as reported by The Guardian. The title is said to be “the traditional name for the meeting place for Siumu’s senior leaders.”

Along with the new title, Charles will walk through a mangrove reserve to see what effect climate change has had on Samoa and the surrounding area.
Lenatai Victor Tamapuaa Samoan chief and Member of Parliament, said via The independent“The king tide today is about double what it was 20, 30 years ago, and that’s impacting our country and eating away at some of the areas that are so difficult for us to control. People now have to go inland.”

Charles is also in Samoa to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), where he will open the world summit but will not take part in the discussions between several world leaders, including the British Prime Minister. Keir Starmer.
Charles will be in Samoa for four days, after a six-day tour of Australia. Many locals shared their excitement about his visit, with a Samoan woman mentioned Sina Tuuu Schwenke narrate The Guardian, “No one ever dreamed that the King would come to our village and knowing that he will stay here is something we are proud of and look forward to. This means a lot to us.”
