November 1 – Poplar: The Poplar Volunteer Fire Department will serve a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 9523 US Highway 2. Cost: $7 for ages 12 and up, $3 for ages 6 to 11, and free for 5 and under.

Superior: Traders Village of Douglas County will hold a gift fair in the 4-H building at the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Allouez: A card show with about 25 tables of cards and collectibles runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Belgian Club, 3931 E. Second St.

Superior: The Twin Ports Veterans Expo is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the U.S. Army National Guard Armory in Superior, 32 N. 21st St. The free community event, held in coordination with the University of Wisconsin Veteran and Nontraditional Student Center -Superior and The Douglas County Veterans Services Office will include local vendors, veteran-owned businesses, employment opportunities and resources for veterans.

Superior: A holistic healing and wellness fair is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at UW-Superior in the Yellowjacket Union. Speakers and vendors, including energy healers, tarot readers and essential oil sellers. Admission $5.

Superior: Children can stop by the Superior Public Library from 10 a.m. to noon to make grateful trees and leaf suncatchers inspired by the PBS show “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.”

Solon Springs: Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 11405 S. First St. W., will hold an auction, dinner and music fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. The dinner menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, sides, a dessert bar and drinks, with a full plate for $15 or a half order for $8. Bruce Nelson and Charlotte Sanborn will provide the music. There will also be a silent auction and a bake sale.

Superior: The Douglas County Drug Prevention Coalition will hold a free public overdose response training in the meeting room of the Superior Public Library, 1530 Tower Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The training includes how to recognize signs of an overdose. and how to respond. Participants will receive a free Narcan kit. No RSVP required.

Superior: Business leaders invite to a meeting to discuss the impact of the Blatnik Bridge project at 1 p.m. at UW-Superior in the Great Hall on the second floor of Yellowjacket Union (parking in lots 2 or 11). The meeting is hosted by the Minnesota and Wisconsin transportation departments and business leaders will talk about how they survived and thrived during road construction.

Superior: The Page Turners Book Club meets at 10:30 a.m. at the Superior Public Library to discuss “The Vaster Wilds” by Lauren Groff.

Admission is $5 for UW-Superior students, $10 for seniors and children and $15 for adults.

Gordon: A pancake breakfast and meat raffle fundraiser for the Cozy Corners Trail Club is from 8 a.m. to noon at The Tree Stand Tavern, 6806 E. County Road M. Breakfast costs $8.50.

Highland: A holiday market is from 9am to 2pm in the current and former Highland town hall buildings. About 30 vendors and the fire department sell food and baked goods.

South Range: Parkland Community Group will hold its annual holiday expo from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Parkland Town Hall on County Highway K. There will be 30 crafters and vendors, a raffle and food and drinks for sale. Donate personal care, cleaning and craft items to Highland Restoration and Wellness, a residential facility for women working in addiction recovery, to receive drawing entries.

City of Superior: The Town of Superior Fire Department Auxiliary will hold a chili feed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fire Hall, 4939 S. State Road 35. The cost is $8 for ages 12 and older and $5 for ages 11 and younger.
