USC coach Lincoln Riley throws quarterback Miller Moss under the bus. While it is true that Moss’s performance has declined, it is also true that poor decisions and strategies from the coach have put him in very difficult positions. Take the Washington game for example. Washington has the best pass defense in all of college football, and Riley spent most of the first half calling pass plays. What was he trying to prove? He woke up in the second half, but by then Washington had the lead. Coach Riley needs to stand up and share the blame.

As a UCLA fan, I’m glad USC has discovered what it’s like to be hired and deceived by an arrogant charlatan football coach. Fortunately, our time with Chip Kelly is over, but with what will reportedly be an $80 million buyout, USC will be stuck with Lincoln Riley for many years to come. When he arrived and brought half his team from Oklahoma, including a Heisman quarterback, and went 11-3 in his freshman year, I’m sure Trojan fans were over the moon. Since then he has gone 8-5 and 4-5 (so far). Not exactly the football genius USC was hoping for.

Desperate people do desperate things. Lincoln Riley benching Miller Moss with three games remaining in a losing season is little more than rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The Trojans have already hit the iceberg and Riley is undoubtedly looking for a lifeline (an NFL job) so he doesn’t go down with the ship.

Lincoln Riley’s lack of imagination is astonishing. As if three line dives and a weak pass inside the 10-yard line weren’t bad enough, the decision not to make a field goal with more than five minutes to play when the deficit is only five points strongly suggests that someone else would have made the decision have to take. plays.

Coach Riley, your team and UCLA have provided exciting late game thrillers this year. Much more exciting than lopsided games where the fans are sent home in the third quarter. If we are looking for entertainment, what kind of sport that should be, keep walking a tightrope and forget about the alumni!

USC’s first five losses were by a total of 19 points – the fewest in their history. However, they hung on until the end in all five matches despite a litany of miscues. Interestingly, the recent quarterback change could help USC get to a bowl game.

No defense
The Lakers’ defensive problems won’t go away. Their offensive team is brilliant, but no member has NBA-level lateral and lateral movement or speed on defense, and especially on the fast break, where young high-flying wings and point guards are killing them. Even in the half court, their guards and forwards can’t keep up with the new talent in the league and are too reliant on Anthony Davis – their only good defender – to stop everything.

Having a plan is good. But Lakers coach JJ Redick is learning that having players who can actually execute your plan is even better.

Moving Mookie? Say it isn’t so
It looks like the Dodger Brain Trust is going to play musical chairs again with Mookie Betts. Why?
General manager Brandon Gomes says the club’s biggest need is corner outfielders. Real! You just won a World Series with Teoscar Hernández on the left and Mookie Betts on the right. Finished!
When Mookie returned from injury last season to play right field (his natural position), he thrived! And this idea that there’s more pressure in the outfield than in the infield? I don’t buy it. I think just the opposite. And do you really want to risk a potential collision at second base on a double play and injure one of your superstars? I don’t think so.
My advice to the Dodgers? Don’t mess with success and don’t mess with Mookie!

Let’s hear it for Joe Davis
In all the World Series celebration letters, it seems people have forgotten about another great Dodger: Joe Davis. He is truly a champion. His professionalism and ability to broadcast fairly, without bias on Fox Sports, did not go unnoticed. And his vote call on the Freeman walk-off grand slam and Walker Buehler’s final slam will forever be indelibly stamped in Dodger history of success and achievement. How lucky we are. What a gift.

Say it in Spanish
Bravo to you people!
Although my Spanish is pretty much limited to what they taught us in fourth grade, I really like that you have a few pages of the special World Series section in Spanish. Well done!

I thought former NFL quarterback Alex Smith could emerge as a dark horse candidate for president since he had had success as a commander and chief in the past.
