A Lincoln County man wanted on child sex abuse charges was arrested Friday in South Carolina.

On Thursday, deputies were called to investigate an assault on a minor, the sheriff’s office said.
Through their investigation, detectives were able to charge Maxwell Sidney Fletcher, 30, of Mount Holly, NC, with multiple crimes.
Officials say Fletcher coached the boy’s football team at East Lincoln High School.
Police in Gaffney, S.C., arrested Fletcher on Friday. He is currently being held at the Gaffney Detention Center on a court order.
The sheriff’s office says they expect to begin Fletcher’s extradition process next week.
Lincoln County officials say the investigation is open and ongoing and Fletcher has other outstanding warrants for his arrest Lincoln and Catawba counties.
Channel 9 contacted the Lincoln County School District about Fletcher’s arrest and received the following response:
“Max Fletcher served as the assistant men’s soccer coach at East Lincoln High School in the fall of 2023. He is no longer associated with ELHS or Lincoln County Schools.”
