Around 1:03 a.m., FHP was monitoring eastbound traffic on I-4 near mile marker 78 when a trooper observed a 2019 Kia Forte traveling at a high rate of speed.

The Forte merged on the Florida Turnpike and came to a complete stop. At that point, the trooper activated his emergency lights, positioned his patrol vehicle and exited his vehicle.

However, the driver ignored the trooper’s commands, fled the scene and initiated evasive maneuvers, leading to a pursuit.

The chase eventually led to the Forte hitting a 2024 Toyota Camry at the intersection of Kirman Road and Conroy Road.

The driver of the Forte fled on foot and hid in a nearby wooded area, where he was later located with the assistance of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Orlando Police.

The driver of the Camry suffered minor injuries.
