CHICAGO (CBS) — A man has been charged in connection with a home invasion in South Barrington early Monday morning.
According to police, Mathew P. Miller has been arrested and is facing charges of home invasion and attempted burglary. He appeared in court Tuesday.
South Barrington police said that around 12:45 a.m. Monday, residents in the South Barrington Lakes neighborhood were awakened by a man in their home. They confronted the suspect as he climbed out of a window.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m., officers who were at the scene of the first burglary heard breaking glass at a nearby house.
Residents of the home told police that the suspect indicated he had a gun when he went upstairs and barricaded himself inside the home.
Officers arrested Miller after a standoff that lasted more than two hours.
