Man pleads not guilty to child sexual assault in Linda Vista

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) – The man arrested for breaking into a Linda Vista home and sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.

Alejandro Confessor, 22, is charged with sex crimes, burglary and trespassing. He pleaded not guilty and denied the charges in court.

“These parents, these children went through something that no one should have to go through,” Deputy District Attorney Eric Bodnar said Wednesday after the arraignment. “It really is a parent’s worst nightmare.”

The confessor faces 25 years to life behind bars if convicted on all charges.

On Thursday, the suspect entered a home on Wellington St. through an open door, where he then assaulted the five-year-old while she slept. He then fled the scene on foot.

Just a few days after the first incident, on Sunday, surveillance footage appeared to capture the same man again at the Wellington St. property around 3:30 a.m. However, authorities said he did not enter the home and no one was injured.

Because he returned to the same residence, prosecutors argued in court that he should not be offered the previously set $1 million bail. The judge agreed.

“Someone who returns to a home and commits the alleged crimes, we believe is a risk to public safety, so we believe bail was not warranted,” Bodnar added.

Bodnar confirmed that the suspect had no relationship with the victims.

On Thursday, a criminal protection order aimed at protecting the two minors was filed in court and Confessor was ordered not to have contact, directly or indirectly, with two minors.

The confessor was taken into custody Sunday around 11:15 p.m. in the 6700 block of Linda Vista Road after receiving a report of a man drinking a beer in the area who matched the description of the burglary suspect, SDPD said.

“Without the collective effort of everyone, we would not have been able to take the suspect into custody. Now that we have, justice can be served,” Bodnar said.
