Middlebury man hospitalized after accident

Dec. 10—A Middlebury man was hospitalized Monday in a crash on Goshen’s south side.

Jordan Allen, 64, of Middlebury, was traveling east on US 20 when Elkhart County deputies believe he suffered a medical problem Monday at 4:46 p.m.

His 2016 Hyundai Accent ran off the north side of US 20 west of CR 27 and collided with a utility pole, toppling several times and landing upright in a ditch.

Allen was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of his injuries and cited for driving while suspended by the prior.

Driver injured in accident

Elkhart County deputies reported that Kathleen Fozo, 72, of Mishawaka, was driving east on Old US 33 approaching the intersection at CR 1 at 8:26 p.m. Monday when her gray Chevrolet Equinox, because she was distracted, crashed into the back of a car . gray Nissan Versa driven by Tanashia Mudzimurema, 27, of Mishawaka.

Fozo was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for neck pain.

HIT-AND-RUN

–Goshen police responded to a crash in the 400 block of North Ninth Street on Sunday at 11:26 p.m.

– A 73-year-old man reported to Goshen police Monday at 2:48 p.m. His vehicle was struck by another in the parking lot of the ophthalmologist’s office at 1765 Stafford Court.

ARRESTS

– A 28-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies Friday at 10:38 p.m. on an active arrest warrant and a charge of operating a vehicle without ever receiving a driver’s license after he was stopped for a traffic violation near Pleasant Plain and Mishawakal Avenue.

– A 24-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies Friday at 11:17 p.m. on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after crashing his vehicle into a Northern Indiana Public Service Co. utility pole. had driven near CR 36 and CR 31 in Goshen.

– A 27-year-old man was arrested and jailed at 3:04 a.m. Saturday by Elkhart County deputies on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving without ever receiving a driver’s license after a traffic stop near North Third Street and West Pike Street in Goshen.

– A 17-year-old was arrested Saturday by Elkhart County deputies on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he was stopped by police for traffic violations and also found to be in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and alcohol.

– A 24-year-old man was arrested and jailed at 3:24 a.m. Sunday by Elkhart County deputies on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he was stopped on Toledo Road east of CR 13 for a moving violation.

– A 27-year-old man was arrested and jailed Sunday at 9:12 p.m. by Elkhart County deputies on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle without a license after he was stopped for traffic violations on US 33 between CR 15 and CR13.

CRIMINAL recklessness

Elkhart County officers responded to a possible accidental, self-inflicted shooting in the 54000 block of Lilac Street in Elkhart on Saturday at 7:38 p.m.

RESIDENTIAL ENTRANCE

A 24-year-old woman reported to Elkhart County deputies that someone broke into her CR 15 home, assaulted and intimidated her between 11:40 PM Saturday and 9:00 AM Sunday morning.

THEFT

– An 83-year-old man reported to Goshen police at 12:03 a.m. Sunday that someone had taken tools from his basement in the 200 block of North Fifth Street.

– A 68-year-old man reported to Goshen police Sunday at 6:48 p.m. that someone had taken money from his room in Greencroft.

– A 49-year-old woman reported to Goshen police at 1:04 a.m. Monday that a man she knew had stolen her phone and was stalking her.

– A 31-year-old woman reported to Elkhart County police Friday at 3:30 p.m. Someone stole her late grandmother’s jewelry and two safes from the 51000 block of CR 11 in Elkhart.

– A 75-year-old woman reported to Elkhart County deputies that someone stole and cashed a check from her mailbox on Dec. 3 in the 11000 block of CR 46 in Millersburg.

– A 24-year-old man reported to Goshen police at 10:35 a.m. Monday. His license plate was stolen from the 900 block of Zollinger Road.

– A 46-year-old man reported the theft of his vehicle from the 300 block of South 10th Street to Goshen police Monday at 4:25 p.m.

– A 53-year-old woman reported to Elkhart County police that someone stole mail from a mailbox in the 25000 block of CR 6 in Elkhart between Dec. 1 and Dec. 7.

CRIMINAL ILLEGAL

–Goshen police witnessed someone defacing a brick business building on North Main Street on Sunday at 2:22 p.m.

– A 38-year-old woman reported to Elkhart County deputies that someone forced entry into her locked vehicle through the driver’s window in the 51000 block of Ind. between 2 a.m. and 11:54 a.m. Sunday. 15 in Bristol to break.

FRAUD

A 44-year-old woman reported to Elkhart County deputies that someone had committed fraud against her between November 26 and 27.
