Regional gas prices rose for the second straight week, hitting an average of $3.42 per gallon of regular fuel on Monday, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. That’s up from $3.32 per gallon last week.
The average price of gas in the Midwest region has risen about 7 cents since last month. According to the EIA, gas prices in the region over the past year have been as low as $2.77 on Jan. 8, 2024, and as high as $3.77 on Aug. 14, 2023.
A year ago, the average price of gasoline in the Midwest region was 1% lower, at $3.39 per gallon.

The average price of gas in the United States was $3.48 last week, putting prices in the Midwest region about 1.8 percent lower than the national average. The average national gas price is up from last week’s average of $3.44 per gallon.
The prices in the Midwestern states are found in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee and Wisconsin, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
