Dowling’s placement on waivers comes as Devils forward Curtis Lazar returns to the lineup for the club’s upcoming game against the St. Louis Blues.
Dowling, 34, was recalled by the Devils in late October following Lazar’s injury. In 21 games with the Devils this season, Dowling has two goals, one assist, 16 hits and a minus-2 rating.
Dowling also played in six games with the Utica Comets this season, scoring two goals and four points.
Teams looking for more forward depth might consider taking a flier on Dowling. However, if he is not claimed, he will return to Utica.
