NFL Week 5 Power Rankings: Will the Chiefs or Vikings be the last undefeated team?

It didn’t take long before almost every team suffered a loss this season. Just five weeks later, there are only two teams left chasing the 1972 Miami Dolphins. The Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings are the two remaining 5-0 teams in the NFL. If we’re wondering which team will have the final undefeated status, Minnesota is probably the better answer.

If the Vikings overcome one upcoming obstacle, it’s possible they can remain without a loss well into November. After a Week 6 bye, the Vikings host the Detroit Lions. That will be a tough challenge that could ultimately decide who wins the NFC North. If Minnesota wins? They have a series of next games in which they are favored: at Rams, vs. Colts, at Jaguars, at Titans. While no game in the NFL is a gimme, especially this season, it is possible that if the Vikings get past the Lions, they could have a game against the Bears at 10-0 on November 24th.

The Chiefs’ upcoming schedule is much tougher. After their Week 6 bye, their schedule has many challenges: at 49ers, at Raiders, vs. Buccaneers, vs. Broncos, at Bills. If they somehow get through that unscathed, they have another stint: with Panthers, vs. Raiders vs. Chargers and at Browns until mid-December, but getting through the next five games without a loss will be a big challenge.

Regardless of which team remains undefeated last, they should both feel pretty lucky to have gotten this far without a loss. No other team has done this. Here are the power rankings entering Week 6 of the NFL season:
