One person has been killed in a plane crash in Westchester County. What we know now

One passenger has died following a small plane crash on Interstate 684 near Exit 2 in the town of Harrison, New York, according to New York State Police.

Westchester County Plane Crash Details

The plane crash happened on Thursday around 7 p.m. State troopers responded to reports of a plane crash on the highway. “The preliminary investigation has revealed that there were two persons on the plane, and one has been confirmed deceased,” police said Thursday evening. Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.

Road closures, traffic impact after plane crash near Westchester airport

Thursday evening, I-684 remained closed in both directions, with detours causing significant traffic delays in the Armonk and White Plains areas. The road has now reopened.

The crash site is near Exit 2 of I-684, the exit for Westchester County Airport. The plane crashed into the highway median at 6:58 p.m

Fatal plane crash in Westchester: aircraft information

It is believed to be a TECNAM P2008, a single-engine two-seater aircraft. Scanner reports described it as a 2021 P-208 model.
