Penguins 2024 second-round pick traded to Calgary in CHL deal

It appears one of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ top players has been involved in a major CHL trade.

Forward Tanner Howe – the Penguins’ 46th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft – was traded Wednesday, along with Corbin Vaughn, by the Regina Pats to the Calgary Hitmen for Keets Fawcett, Reese Hamilton, three picks and one unnamed said prospect.

The move will not affect Howe’s NHL rights, which remain in Pittsburgh.

The Pats appear to be on their way to building their draft and prospect pools, while Calgary looks to replenish their roster. In ten games with the Pats this season, Howe had scored six goals and seven points.

Howe, the Pats’ captain, signed his three-year entry-level contract with the Penguins this summer and has totaled 98 goals and 240 points in 217 WHL games. He participated in his first training camp for the Penguins this preseason.
