One person was found dead in a burning house in the Hollywood Hills on Wednesday evening.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews were called to the scene, located in the 8500 block of W. Lookout Mountain Avenue, around 4:45 p.m. after learning of the fire.
It took them just over half an hour to extinguish the fire, which raged in the two-story home, fire officials said.
“During the fire attack, one person was found deceased and remains on scene,” LAFD said. They later noticed it was an older adult male.
They say they were able to contain the fire to the first floor of the house and prevented it from spreading to nearby vegetation and other homes in the area. A water-dropping aircraft was on site as a precaution if the flames spread to the brush on the hill.
The victim has not yet been identified. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
