On another day, another prominent NFL figure will become a college head coach.
According to the Virginian PilotMike Vick will be the next head coach at Norfolk State University. Both parties reached an agreement on Tuesday morning.
Vick has no coaching experience.
The news comes amid a dubious report from ESPN.com that Vick was in talks to be hired as head coach at Sacramento State, with the even more dubious idea that Sacramento State has a treasure trove of $50 million NIL. Although the school principal said he expressed interest and was interviewed, there was no evidence he was in discussions to be hired.
Vick, the first overall pick in the 2001 draft, became the face of the NFL. A dogfighting scandal interrupted his career – and his freedom – in 2007. He returned in 2009 and eventually became the Eagles’ starting quarterback.
