Italian company Saipem has won three contracts worth $3.7 billion (€3.41 billion) from TotalEnergies’ subsidiary for work on the Kaminho project off the coast of Angola.

The contracts, awarded by TotalEnergies EP Angola Block 20, concern the development of the Cameia and Golfinho oil fields, approximately 100 km off the coast of Angola.

The first contract includes the engineering, procurement, construction, transportation and commissioning of the Kaminho floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO).

The second contract covers the operation and maintenance of the FPSO for an initial period of twelve years, with the possibility of an eight-year extension.

Saipem said its experiences with three other FPSOs operating in Angola will be crucial at this stage.

The third contract includes an extensive subsea package, umbilicals, risers and flowlines.

It includes the engineering, procurement, supply, construction, installation, pre-commissioning and support for the commissioning and start-up of approximately 30 km of 8-inch and 10-inch subsea power lines, risers and feeder cables.

The structures for this project will be manufactured at Saipem’s local yard in Ambriz.

For the offshore campaign, Saipem plans to deploy its field development vessel and engage the local supply chain for logistics and manufacturing activities.

The contracts follow the final investment decision of TotalEnergies and its partners in the $6 billion Kaminho deepwater project.

The project, which is expected to begin production in 2028, targets a production plateau of 70,000 barrels of oil per day.

TotalEnergies has a 40% stake in Block 20, while Petronas Angola E&P and Sonangol P&P own the remaining shares.

Recently, Saipem secured an $850 million contract from Azule Energy to develop the Ndungu field, part of the Agogo Integrated West Hub project, 180 km off the coast of Angola.

The West Hub project, located in offshore Block 15/06, is managed by Azule Energy in partnership with Sonangol P&P and SSI Fifteen.
