Two pedestrians were hospitalized Saturday night after a “series of serious accidents” in downtown Boise.

Boise police closed a portion of Main Street and asked motorists to avoid a section of downtown between Main and Idaho streets and 6th and 11th streets.

The “suspected driver” was located, Boise police said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. The adult male driver was taken to a hospital, BPD spokesperson Haley Williams told the Idaho Statesman.

The two pedestrians hospitalized were female adults, Williams said.

An Idaho Statesman journalist in the area spotted a large SUV with dents along the side and long stretches of caution tape around Main Street.

“Officers are investigating a series of serious crashes,” BPD said in the X-post. “The suspect driver has been located and the investigation is ongoing. Two pedestrians were injured and taken to a local hospital. Anyone who witnessed this, or whose vehicle was damaged, and who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.”

The incidents occurred on the same evening that the Twilight Criterium bike race closed a separate section of city center roads, just north of the police investigation.
