Several lanes of the northbound 605 Freeway and the eastbound 60 Freeway in the City of Industry were closed Thursday morning after a fiery crash involving a big rig.
Cal Trans issued a Sig Alert around 4:15 a.m. after fuel began spilling from the vehicles onto the roadway. The right two lanes and the transitions to eastbound and westbound Highway 60 are closed.
Due to the closure of the lanes, traffic was backed up for several kilometers.
Members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the crash at 3:20 a.m. Crews worked to extinguish the flames. The driver of the big rig was taken to hospital.
The CHP said the highway will remain closed for a few hours while they work to clear the roadway and remove the vehicles.
They urge motorists to drive carefully through the area and expect delays.
There is no immediate information on the condition of the drivers.
