According to the National Weather Service, Louisville has a chance to see some light snow accumulation on the ground Saturday, along with cold temperatures.
Cities in Kentucky and southern Indiana could get less than an inch of snow Saturday evening, according to a forecast Thursday from the National Weather Service in Louisville. Although Ryan Sharp, a meteorologist with the NWS, said some communities in the region could see up to an inch of snow in what is expected to be a fast-moving system.
“It’ll be quite nice to watch, but we don’t expect much in terms of impact at this point,” Sharp said Thursday, adding that if the system shifts north or south of the Interstate 64 corridor, it might will suffer less from the consequences. an impact on the Louisville area.
Of the cities listed in a weather service chart, Jasper, Indiana had the highest chance (25%) of more than an inch of snow, while Jeffersontown had a 10% chance and Lexington had a 15% chance.
Be prepared for several days of cold weather as the NWS forecast calls for Louisville to remain below 45 degrees Friday through Tuesday.
“I think the temperatures here will be the biggest problem because it’s our first real hard freeze,” Sharp said. “There may be time today to install your faucet covers on an outdoor faucet.”
