Another day in August, another National Weather Service heat warning for the Miami metropolitan area, from Palm Beach County to Homestead and mainland Monroe County.
Sunday’s heat warning runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with highs in the low to mid 90s, depending on how far inland you are, and heat indexes peaking at 105 to 112 degrees. This is the fifth consecutive day for a heat warning, which also includes Collier, Glades and Hendry counties.
So whether you’re in Kendall, Fort Lauderdale, Riviera Beach, or Palm Beach, make sure you stay hydrated (water still works best), stay in cooled rooms, limit your time outdoors or at least take frequent breaks, and keep an eye out for seniors and others who have trouble keeping their homes cool.
