Taylor Swift releases new album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. Here’s how Swifties in NYC can celebrate.

NEW YORK — Taylor Swift’s new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” was released Friday, and Swifties gathered in New York City to celebrate.

The album, which turned out to be a surprising double albumwas released at midnight.

Hundreds of people packed Buitenspel in the East Village for a listening party Friday. Admission was $5.

Swifties released song after song adorned with sequins, friendship bracelets and even, in some cases, Taylor tattoos in honor of Swift’s eleventh studio album.

“Tore my heart out and put it back in place. It was amazing,” said fan Makenzie Sandoval.

“When I tell you, it’s a whirlwind of emotions. I went back and forth, literally tears streaming down my face, until I was literally jumping up and down,” said fan Madison Jennings.

Fans got more than expected: a double album with 31 songs.

“I had no idea she would release another 15 songs. That surprised me,” Sandoval said.

“Aaron Dessner is my favorite producer to work with, so the fact that he made most of his album made me so happy,” said one fan.

“There’s definitely a bit more darkness to it. I feel like she is processing her emotions from the day [Joe Alwyn] break up,” said fan Ly Pham.

The music video for an early favorite — a collaboration with Post Malone called “Fortnight” — was also released Friday.

With all this fuss, it’s no surprise that Swift is already breaking records and bringing in big sales for venues like Offside.

The “Taylor Swift Effect” in New York

Swift’s recent exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Design attracted more than 150,000 visitors from May 2023 to March 2024 – an increase of almost 169% from the previous year, resulting in an increase in admission revenue of more than 400% .

Other New Yorkers are also making money with Taylor Swift walking tours around the city. One goes for $32 per person.

Swift broke several records in 2023 when she started her Eras Tour. It became the first tour ever to gross over $1 billionand the filmed version of the concert broke cinema box office records the most commercially successful concert film of all time.
