DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) – The Dearborn Heights City Council has approved the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, averting a citywide lockdown on July 1.
The council held a special meeting Friday and voted 5-2 in favor of the budget.
On Wednesday, the city council said yes making preparations to possibly close services if the council does not approve the budget before June 30.
A few days before the meeting, council members and Mayor Bill Bazzi blamed each other for the failure to approve the budget. Bazzi accused the council of giving certain people raises and demanded confidential information about employees; however, the council claimed that the administration was withholding information needed to approve the budget.
