The search is on for a man who may have taken a homemade raft across the Colorado River

Authorities are looking for a man and his dog after they disappeared in Grand Canyon National Park, possibly while trying to travel across the Colorado River on a homemade wooden raft.

Thomas Lee Robison, 58, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, “may have attempted to sail down the Colorado River with his dog, a Welsh corgi, on a homemade raft,” the National Park Service said in a statement. a missing person flyer Wednesday.

Robison’s dog was described as a 25-pound corgi who is 11 years old.

The park service included a photo of the raft, which appeared to show three wooden planks crudely held together, as well as a paddle and a life jacket.

Robinson’s champagne-colored 2001 Toyota Tacoma was found Sunday near Lee’s Ferry in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, according to the park service.

Robison, who is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 160 pounds, has brown hair and hazel eyes, the park service said.
