Three arrested after shots heard in refugee center in southern Germany

A special police force arrested three people in a refugee camp in southern Germany on Monday after hearing gunshots.

It is not yet clear where the gunshots came from or who fired them, a police spokesperson said.

Police received the emergency call around midday (10:00 GMT). Officers surrounded the center of the northern Bavarian town of Uffenheim and cordoned off a large area.

The police spokesman said special units also heard gunshots coming from the building.

One person initially left the building and was arrested without resistance, police said, while two others were held in the attic.

In the afternoon, the police gave the all-clear on the social media platform X. “There are no victims. There is no danger,” the message said.

Police said emergency services would search the building for a weapon.
