President Donald Trump announced Saturday evening that he has selected Kash Patel as the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Patel, an insider of the Trump transition, also wanted to become deputy director of the CIA. That position would not have required Senate confirmation, unlike the position of FBI director, which does.
The president-elect also announced that he has selected Chad Chronister, sheriff of Hillsborough County, Florida, as administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Chronister joins a long line of Floridians Trump has chosen to join his administration.
Trump made both announcements in posts on Truth Social.
