Two teens arrested, accused of robbing 9-year-old boy at gunpoint in Boston

Two teenagers were arrested in Boston on Thursday for allegedly robbing a 9-year-old boy of his cellphone at gunpoint, police said.

The boy was waiting for a barbecue at Children’s Park on the corner of Intervale and Fernboro streets around 6:30 p.m. when two 15-year-olds approached him and took his cellphone at gunpoint, Essex County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said.

The two 15-year-old teens were charged Friday in West Roxbury Juvenile Court with armed robbery and making a criminal threat.

“Being robbed at gunpoint is a terrifying experience for anyone. But the age of the victim here, and the age of the minors charged, adds an extra layer of shock and heartbreak. I commend this young boy and the adults present for providing the information that led to this arrest,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

The identities of the two arrested teenagers have not been released.
