Initial claims for unemployment benefits in Florida fell last week compared to the previous week, the U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday.
New unemployment claims, a gauge for layoffs, fell to 5,990 in the week ending April 13, down from 6,385 the week before, the Labor Department said.
U.S. unemployment claims were flat last week at 212,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis.
Connecticut saw the largest percentage increase in weekly claims, with claims increasing 56.2%. Delaware, meanwhile, saw the largest percentage decline in new claims, with claims down 64.5%.
