Williamston’s Fourth of July lights up the sky with music, food and patriotic fun

Saturday morning kicked off all-day Fourth of July festivities, featuring a patriotic golf cart parade, Envision Williamston’s Bobbers on Big Creek Race, music from Jukebox45, a car show and more than 50 booths at Williamston’s Mineral Spring Park.

Then, after 5:30 p.m., across from Main Street, live music took the stage from Luke Smith, Nashville artist Tracielynn, and headliner Gyth Rigdon. At 10 p.m., fireworks filled the sky during Williamston’s Annual Freedom Celebration and Fourth of July concert.

Gyth Rigdon, the headliner known for his appearance on NBC’s “The Voice,” honored Williamston Officer Ashley Brito and thanked him for his service to the country. Brito served in the Middle East with the 82nd Airborne.

Tracielynn, 30, of Nashville, Tennessee, debuted a new song, “One Plus One Equals 2 Am,” a duet with her husband, Hunter Falling. She threw T-shirts into the crowd and posed for photos with fans after her concert. Tracielynn, a graduate of the University of South Carolina, recently opened for Alabama.

Williamston Mayor Rockey Burgess announced to the public between concerts that a $750,000 upgrade is coming to Mineral Spring Park’s playground, citing the park as a well-used and popular event space.

Spectators cheered as the fireworks began, with the first fireworks sounding midway through Gyth Rigdon’s cover of Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight.” Rigdon continued to cover several popular patriotic songs, including Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA”.
