Traffic on the I-5 Freeway was delayed Tuesday evening after a runaway horse died in one of the lanes.
According to the California Highway Patrol, three horses ran across multiple lanes of the busy freeway near the westbound 210 Freeway interchange near Newhall Pass shortly before 9 p.m.
Two horses died after a collision with a car in the middle lane. The horse eventually died in lane 4. The driver pulled over to the side of the highway when some passersby tried to rein in another horse.
It is unclear how the horses ended up on the highway.
