One person was killed in Gastonia on Saturday due to a domestic situation.

Gastonia police were called to a home on Dix where a woman and her boyfriend were involved in a domestic dispute.
During the disagreement, detectives say the boyfriend, David V. McDowell III, shot and killed his girlfriend.

This is the second fatal shooting to occur in the area on Saturday. The first involved an officer and took place a few blocks away.
In addition to these two shootings, officers responded to Adams Avenue for a man who had been shot in the face.
Paramedics took him to hospital.
At this time, GPD detectives are trying to determine if the two shootings are related.
