Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz left Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints with a concussion.
Ertz suffered the injury in the first half on a catch and run. He grabbed with one hand on a pass from Jayden Daniels and hit the turf with his head when he was tackled.
He immediately went to the sideline injury tent for evaluation. Then he left for the locker room be assessed for concussion. Before half time he was ruled out of the match.
Ertz is Washington’s best tight end and a favorite target of Daniels. He is the team’s second-best receiver behind Terry McLaurin, recording Sunday’s 52 catches for 504 yards and four touchdowns. He had two catches for 25 yards in Sunday’s game against the Saints.
Washington was up 7–0 at the time of his injury and took a 14–0 lead with a touchdown on a drive that left the game. Washington started Sunday’s game 8-5 and was fighting to hold on to its position for the final wild-card spot in the NFC playoff field.
