July 26 – An Albert Lea man was charged Friday with two counts of indecent exposure in the presence of a minor under the age of 16 after he was arrested Thursday night in the park at Sibley Elementary School.
Mauricio Gutierrez Espana, 29, was arrested on charges of serious misdemeanor assault after receiving a report of a man exposing his genitals in the park.
The adult who reported the problem was approached by two minors, aged 12 and 13, who reported that the man had exposed himself and was touching him.
Officers spoke to Gutierrez Espana, who denied exposing himself to the children but admitted that two children were playing near him at the time.
Officers arranged for Gutierrez Espana’s girlfriend to pick up her children and arrested him.
On Friday, District Judge Terrence Walters set Gutierrez Espana’s bail at $12,000 without conditions or $500 with conditions. Conditions included that he abide by the law.
Online court records show Gutierrez Espana posted the $500 bail.
He is due to appear in court on August 8.
