A former U.S. Air Force pilot at Fort Eisenhower was recently sentenced to seven years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse images.
Jacob Christian Butler, 33, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography before U.S. District Court Judge Randal Hall.
The judge also ordered Butler to register as a sex offender and serve 15 years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence, which is federal and does not allow for parole.
Butler was an Airman First Class at Fort Eisenhower with a high security clearance. According to prosecutors, a security system detected a prohibited mobile device in Butler’s possession when he entered a sensitive compartmentalized information facility, where classified information is processed.

Investigators who seized the phone found several images of child sexual abuse. Other devices in Butler’s home contained hundreds of similar images and videos found during a search.
Hall ruled that restitution is owed to the victims identified in the images, but he agreed to delay a final determination of restitution until the case is further investigated.
